Best Bets: Dave Attell's Insomniac Tour

Jun 1, 2005
Maxim

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas—at least until it is aired after Crank Yankers every night for a month. True or not, the repetition would be justified. Dave Attell's Insomniac Tour features everyone's favorite caustic drinking buddy assembling a trio of stand-up standouts—Sean Rouse, Tough Crowd's Greg Giraldo, and the only comedian to boast top-five sales on the Billboard charts, Dane Cook—in Sin City to create Comedy Central's first feature-length concert film.

The show begins with an angry midget hooker ridiculing the host's hog size with her midget hands, just to verify the lack of boundaries. From there on, nothing is sacred. Rouse ridicules his own rheumatoid arthritis, Cook takes us on an insightful jaunt back to his very first hummer, and Double G debates the difference between women and bitches (hint: bitches like having a fo'ty sprayed on them).

Yet Attell still steals the show. Offensive in all the right places, and tubby everywhere else, his theory on why a penguin can never be a waiter deserves to be scientific law. Separately, they are impressive, but combining like a comedy Voltron, the quartet could be the most impressive force in stand-up—with Attell forming the very bald lion head.
